NYPD Traffic Agent Gropes Colleague While on Duty, Police Say

By Noah Hurowitz | January 9, 2017 2:16pm

MIDTOWN — An NYPD traffic agent was arrested after groping a colleague while on duty last week, according to a police report.

Kwongwai Cheng, 31, a four-year veteran of NYPD traffic enforcement, groped a fellow traffic agent's breasts and buttocks while they were working at a police office in Midtown on the afternoon of Jan. 5, according to an NYPD spokesman.

The 45-year-old woman reported Cheng to police, and he was arrested when he showed up for work the next day, police said.

Prosecutors charged Cheng with sexual abuse and forcible touching, records show. A judge released him without bail, and he is due back in court on Feb. 24, according to a spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

As of Monday, Cheng had been suspended without pay, according to the NYPD.

Cheng’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
