UPPER EAST SIDE — Blue 9 Burger was forced to close by the health department for a contaminated kitchen and lack of a sink for employees to use to wash their hands, according to inspection records.
The 1415 Second Ave. burger joint at 74th Street shuttered after failing a Jan. 3 inspection that found the eatery's food prep area contaminated by sewage, the kitchen not properly washed or sanitized and food not protected from contamination, records show.
The restaurant also lacked a sink in the kitchen and bathroom. It was slapped with 51 violation points total, according to records.
The eatery, which offered a dozen hamburger varieties, including the "4x4 Quadruple Cheeseburger," did not answer calls for comment Friday.
Carolina Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health, said the restaurant had not requested a re-inspection as of Friday afternoon.
