Car Slams Into Bronx Shops and Traps Victims Behind Debris, FDNY Says

SPUYTEN DUYVIL — A car jumped a curb and smashed into a pizzeria and a hair salon Monday, trapping several people behind debris, authorities said. 

The car slammed into the front of Famous Pizza Express and A Touch of Sun Hair and Spa at 570 and 568 Kappock St. just before 3:30 p.m., according to the FDNY and a post on social media.

Firefighters had to pull the victims out of the debris caused by the crash, leaving them with minor injuries, but no one was taken to the hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.

The FDNY could not say how many people were injured or the extent of the damage to the building.

Staff at the pizzeria and the hair salon could not be reached for comment Monday.
