MARINERS HARBOR — A man was arrested after swiping a cellphone from a sleeping passenger on a Staten Island bus, prosecutors said.

A 41-year-old man was asleep riding the S46 bus on Aug. 28 when Maliek Comes, 24, walked up to him and took his iPhone 6 out of his hand at about 3:30 a.m., according to police and prosecutors.

Comes got off the bus at the Lockman Avenue and Brabant Street stop with the phone, the NYPD said.

Police released security camera footage of Comes in October and he was arrested on Dec. 27. He was charged with petit larceny, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

He was released without bail and is due back in court on Feb. 28, according to online court records.

His lawyer could not be reached for comment.
