NEW SPRINGVILLE — A fake credit card was used to buy more than $500 worth of clothes from Macy's, police said.

A man and a woman went into the Staten Island Mall location of the department store on Dec. 16 while pushing a child in a stroller and used a copy of a Macy's credit card to buy the clothes about 7:15 p.m., the NYPD said.

The man who owned the card was still in possession of it when the purchases were made, police said.

It's unclear why police waited so long to release information about the crime.

The suspects were both described as between 30 to 40 years old by police. The man was  wearing a black and blue winter jacket and the woman was wearing a white sweater and winter hat, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
