LOWER MANHATTAN — Two pedestrians had their phones stolen by a bike-riding thief, within the span of 20 minutes, police said.

A man walking in Battery Park City outside of 250 Vesey St., had his Samsung Galaxy phone grabbed by a man on a bike, who then quickly rode away, at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the victim told police.

About 20 minutes later, and several blocks away, at Liberty Street and Broadway, a woman's iPhone 7 was snatched from her hands as she was checking her email, she told police. A man riding a silver bicycle ripped the phone away from her, and peddled off up Broadway, she said.

Police were still investigating whether the thefts were committed by the same person.
