Queens Bank Robber Hits 5 Chase Branches in Broad Daylight, Police Say

QUEENS — Police are looking for a man they said robbed five Chase bank branches in Queens in broad daylight over the past 3 months, authorities said.

In each case, the suspect approached a teller and passed a note demanding money and was handed cash without displaying a weapon, police said. In total, he’s made off with more than $12,000, police said. 

The most recent robbery took place on Monday, Dec. 19, at about 3 p.m. when the suspect walked into a Chase bank at 71-04 Woodhaven Blvd. in Glendale and fled with an undetermined amount of cash, officials said.

The crime spree began on Sept. 30, when the suspect stole $2,100 from a Chase branch at 144-17 Union Turnpike in Kew Gardens Hills around 4 p.m.

The suspect, described as approximately 35-years-old, between 6-foot-5 and 5-foot-7 and weighing approximately 200 pounds, then hit a branch at 196-03 Northern Blvd. in Bayside on Nov. 23, around 2 p.m. and made off with $5,000, authorities said.

He struck again on Nov. 30, around 3 p.m., when he stole $4,620 from a branch at 184-01 Hillside Ave. in Jamaica Estates, police said.

He also stole $1,000 from a bank at 111-18 Liberty Ave. in Richmond Hill on Dec. 14 around 3:15 p.m., officials said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black waist length jacket, blue jeans, and black sneakers, police said.
