UPPER EAST SIDE — An MTA bus driver was threatened at knifepoint on Fifth Avenue by a homeless panhandler Tuesday morning, police said.

The man jumped on the southbound bus at 110th Street and Fifth Avenue and started asking riders for money, the NYPD said.

When it approached 65th Street and Fifth Avenue around 10:30 a.m., he pulled a knife on the female driver and demanded money, police and the MTA said.

She refused, and the panhandler fled the bus, the NYPD said.

The driver was uninjured. Police were searching for the suspect, officials said.
