LOWER EAST SIDE — A new eatery is serving up gourmet comfort food and cocktails on Clinton Street.

Clancey, named for the intersection of Clinton and Delancey streets, opened its doors at 79 Clinton St. on Dec. 15, unveiling a menu with indulgent, comforting items such as truffle grilled cheese with asparagus and egg and herb roasted chicken with warm corn salad.

The menu also includes plenty of dipping-friendly finger foods — char grilled oysters are served with Pecorino and bread for dipping, while bourbon-glazed shrimp comes with dipping toast and greens with bacon.

The 70-seat eatery holds a full bar, serving up craft beers and wine on tap alongside a craft cocktail menu with spicy spins on the classics, such as a "Mangos on Fire" margarita with habanero and a "Not Your Kid's Lemonade Stand" with bourbon and chili liquor.

Now open for dinner, the restaurant opens at 4 p.m. and closes at 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at midnight all other days, with plans to eventually expand to include a brunch menu.
