THE BRONX — A Bronx apartment building caught fire Saturday morning, killing one woman, police said.

The fire broke out inside an apartment at 2111 Southern Blvd. in Belmont, around 9:50 a.m. Saturday, the NYPD said.

First responders to the scene found an unidentified 52-year-old woman unconscious in her bedroom, and rushed her to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The cause of death was not yet known as of Sunday.

The fire marshal was investigating the cause of the fire Saturday, and the name of the victim was being withheld pending family notification, according to police.
