MIDTOWN — A group of six would-be thieves pushed a 77-year-old woman onto a train platform and tried to steal her purse, the NYPD said.

The 77-year-old victim, from Manhattan, was standing by the door of a southbound E train waiting to exit at the West 50th Street station around 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 27 when a group of six people pushed her onto the platform and tried to grab her purse, police said.

When the group couldn’t grab the purse because it was strapped around the woman’s body, they fled the station, the NYPD said.

The woman told police her arm had been injured when she reported the incident the next day.

No one had been arrested as of Tuesday, and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
