West Village Bank Robber Flees Empty-Handed, Police Say

WEST VILLAGE — A man attempted to rob a Chase bank on West Fourth Street but fled empty-handed, police said.

The NYPD is looking for a man caught on surveillance video, who they say tried to rob the Chase bank at 204 W. 4th St. on Dec. 7 about 3:45 p.m., police said.

Police said the man passed a note to a teller with a demand for money, but ran away when she did not immediately hand over cash.

No one was hurt in the attempted robbery, police said.

The man is described as standing 5-foot-10, weighing 170 pounds, and last seen wearing a black ski hat, red jacket, dark-colored pants and grey sneakers.
