Push-in Gunman Who Fled Woman With Hammer Arrested, NYPD Says

QUEENS — The armed neighbor who pushed his way into a state prison guard’s home only to be chased away by the guard’s hammer-wielding wife has been arrested, police said Friday.

Shea Roberts, 24, and his partner knocked on the door of Henry Wright’s home on Mathias Avenue near 166th Street around 7 p.m. on Nov. 27, police said.

Sharon Floyd-Wright opened the door and Roberts, who lives just six houses down on Mathias Avenue, shoved his way into the house with his partner, police said.

Roberts and his partner then shot Wright, 58, in the torso and Floyd-Wright, 52, in the shoulder police said.

But the bullet wound in her shoulder did not stop Floyd-Wright from picking up a hammer and pounding one of the intruders on the head, persuading both men to flee, police said.

Emergency responders transported the couple, both in stable condition, to Jamaica Hospital, said police.

Roberts was arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

But his accomplice has not yet been apprehended, said police.

Roberts was not known to his victims despite his living less than a half-block away, according to police.

Another neighbor, Floyd-Wright's life-long friend Evelyn Fowler, 69, described her as a woman who is kind but tough.

"She is very loving but she would tell you off,” said Fowler after the incident. “She is a strong, no-nonsense woman."
