QUEENS — An 84-year-old woman was killed when she suffered a heart problem and crashed her Ford Escort into a pole Friday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

The car was headed eastbound on Metropolitan Avenue when its driver lost control and rammed into the pole near 70th Drive around 12:40 p.m. Friday, police said.

The elderly woman was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where she later died, police said.

An employee at the nearby Maspeth Federal Savings branch described the car as an older silver station wagon.
