MIDTOWN — A woman on a Citi Bike badly mangled her leg when she was hit on Sixth Avenue Thursday morning, officials said.

The 56-year-old biker, whose name wasn't immediately released, was struck by a white van outside 1211 Sixth Ave., between West 47th and 48th streets, about 9:16 a.m., according to FDNY and NYPD officials.

Her leg was badly mangled in the collision, witnesses said.

"The bike didn't look too bad. She was the one that was messed up," said Sanford Dawson, 57, who sells hats and bags nearby.

"It was horrible. I was horrified," Dawson said.

Emergency responders put a neck brace on her and put her on a stretcher, witnesses said. She was treated at Bellevue Hospital and listed in stable condition, police said.

"There was a lot of police and a van, the van that hit her, was stopped," Dawson said.

The van's driver wasn't immediately arrested or ticketed, police said.

A Citi Bike spokeswoman said after 37 million rides since it launched in 2013, there have been less than 50 accidents in which somebody was seriously injured, with no fatalities.

"We are looking into this matter and we wish the rider a speedy recovery," she said.
