Man Who Chopped Off Victim's Penis Planned to Eat It, Police Say

By  Kathleen Culliton and Eddie Small | December 5, 2016 1:38pm

THE BRONX — The man who killed a 68-year-old man and chopped off his penis told police he had planned to eat it, according to the NYPD.

Jerry Pagan, 32, was still in his victim Richard Reed's Claremont apartment on Sheridan Avenue and Marcy Place, when police arrived and discovered Reed's body in the bathtub with his severed penis laying on the floor, according to police and the criminal complaint.

About 24 hours earlier, on the night of the murder, Pagan argued with the victim — who he had known for several years — before beginning his brutal attack around 8:30 p.m., police said.

Pagan beat the man on the head with a hammer, stabbed him with scissors and removed his penis with a razor, police said.

After his arrest, Pagan told investigators he had intended on eating the penis, police said.

Pagan was arraigned and remanded on murder charges Sunday evening and is expected to return to Bronx Criminal Court on Dec. 9, according to the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
