UPPER EAST SIDE — A woman was critically injured Monday night when an SUV driver hit her on First Avenue, NYPD officials said.

The 66-year-old woman, whose name wasn't immediately released, was crossing First Avenue when a man driving a 2006 Nissan turned left from East 84th Street and hit her about 7 p.m., police said Tuesday morning.

She suffered multiple injuries and was treated at New York-Presbyterian hospital, where she's in critical condition, police said.

The driver, a 72-year-old man, remained on the scene and wasn't immediately arrested or ticketed, an NYPD spokesman said.
