MIDTOWN — An off-duty NYPD school safety agent punched a woman in the face during a fight at the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel early Sunday morning, according to police.

Wendy Castillo, 37, and her friend, another 37-year-old woman, were hanging out at the 420 Park Ave. South hotel at about 2 a.m. when they began to quarrel, police said.

Castillo, who joined the NYPD in 2005, took a swing at her friend, punching her in the face, while the other woman bit down on Castillo’s thumb, according to a police spokesman.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested the pair just before 2:30 a.m., officials said.

Prosecutors charged both with misdemeanor assault charges, according to a police report.

Castillo was released without bail pending her next court date on Jan. 5, court records show, and information was not immediately available on the other woman.

It was not immediately clear at which school Castillo works.
