MIDTOWN — Thousands packed Midtown streets Thursday morning to catch a glimpse of Macy's 90th Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Well before the 9 a.m. kickoff crowds jammed from West 72nd Street and Central Park West to Herald Square, with youngsters poised on their parents' shoulders, tourists armed with selfie sticks, and others who climbed up banisters to get a better view of the massive floats passing by.
A jubilant David Plummer, 7, who spoke with his mother's permission, could barely hold back his enthusiasm as Pikachu, Ronald McDonald and Paddington Bear floats passed.
"I'm excited about the parade and all the traveling we did. I love this parade," said David, who traveled from his home in Hopewell Junction. "I just want to see Santa Claus and the Elf on the Shelf. This is the best day of my life."

Other parade-goers hailed from farther away, like Mary Fisher, 68, of Milwaukee, who said she'd always wanted to witness New York's iconic Thanksgiving Parade with her own eyes.
"It's been on my bucket list since I was 10 years old," she said. "My daughter gave this trip to me as an early Christmas present."
