ST. GEORGE — Old Glory's finally back on top of Staten Island Borough Hall.

The city has repaired a flagpole that holds the star-spangled banner on the roof of Borough Hall nearly five months after it first broke, Borough President James Oddo announced on Facebook.

The replacement means a giant 30-foot-by-20-foot flag the borough president hung on front of the building in the summer while he waited for the repairs has come down.

Oddo noticed the flag on top of Borough Hall was missing around Memorial Day and was told by the Department of City Administrative Services that it needed to be replaced, he wrote on Facebook.

The city told him a crane needed to be placed on the roof but the building's structural stability needed to be checked first.

Instead of waiting for months for the replacement, in August Oddo unfurled a giant flag on the Richmond Terrace side of the building.

"If you're going to go, you're going to go big," Oddo said in August.
