BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — An employee at a 99-cent store was stabbed in the back by a man yelling about headphones, police said.
The suspect walked inside the shop at 1508 Fulton St. near Throop Avenue around 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 12 and said he wanted to exchange a pair of headphones, according to store manager Krishna Panth.
“He was a little crazy, he wanted to exchange but didn’t have them, and that was the issue,” Panth said.
The suspect yelled at the manager and another employee, he added, and then stabbed a security worker who was standing nearby.
Police said the attacker was not provoked and the 63-year-old victim was unaware of the headphones he was referring to.
The worker was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, officials said. He is expected to return to work soon, Panth said.
“He’s doing OK, he was bleeding, but thank God he’s safe now,” the manager added.
The suspect fled on foot and is described by police as having dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a tan jacket and light-colored pants.
