FINANCIAL DISTRICT —  A woman attacked by a would-be robber refused to give up her bag, as the thief tried to rip it from her arm, police said.

The 28-year-old victim was walking out of the Fulton Street subway station last Wednesday at about 9:30 am, when a man yanked the bag from her arm, cutting one of the straps, according to a police report.

The woman turned around, immediately trying to grab the bag back, and the two began to tussle. The attacker pushed the woman to the ground as they fought over the bag, but she refused to let go — and the man soon gave up, dropping the bag and running off, police said.

Police were still investigating the incident.
