WILLIAMSBURG — Just in time for Black Friday, a pop-up Uniqlo, the Japanese clothing store known for stylish clothes and affordable socks and underwear, opened Friday on Bedford Avenue.

It took over a storefront at 186 Bedford Ave., which has sat mostly vacant since Spike Hill closed in 2014.

RedSky Capital has discussed plans since 2015 to redevelop 186 and 184 Bedford Ave. into a glossy new retail building with 21,000 square feet of commercial space, though as of Friday it had filed no building permits.

The Uniqlo site is a temporary shop, open until the end of the holidays, according to workers there, but it's the latest of an influx of chain businesses in the area, including Whole Foods, Apple, Equinox, J. Crew, Chipotle and WeWork that have all opened in recent months.
