Rent a 1-Bedroom for $948 a Month at Luxury High Rise in LIC

LONG ISLAND CITY — Applicants can apply for a chance to live in one of 195 affordable apartments under construction in Court Square, where rents will start at $913 a month for a studio and $948 for a one-bedroom.

The housing lottery for affordable apartments at The Hayden, a new 50-story luxury high-rise being built by Rockrose Development Corp. at 43-25 Hunter St., will be open until the end of the month, according to state officials.

The units include 70 studio apartments for $913 a month available for people earning between $32,640 and $38,100.

And 91 one-bedroom apartments for $948 a month for those making between $34,971 and $38,100 a year, or two-person households making between $34,971 a year $43,500.

There are also 34 two-bedroom units with rents at $1,183 a month available for two people who earn between $41,965 to $43,500, a three-person household making $41,965 to $48,960 or a four-person family that makes between $41,965 to $54,360 a year.

Applicants who currently live in Queens Community Board 2 will get a preference for half of the affordable units.

The building, which will have 974 apartments in total, is expected to open next year. It was partially financed with $85 million in tax exempt bonds through the New York State Homes and Community Renewal affordable housing program.
