BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Find your inner peace at Bedford-Stuyvesant’s newest yoga studio.
Namastuy Healing Collective, a yoga studio and wellness center offering massage therapy, acupuncture and more, will open on Lewis Avenue at the start of the new year, according to owner Lisa Scholz.
The 800-square-foot center at 325 Lewis Ave., between Jefferson Avenue and Hancock Street, will feature a yoga room for about 25 people, along with a treatment room and changing area.
“I’m trying to make it more affordable, more relatable for people because I do believe everyone should or could do it,” Scholz, 30, said.
“I think it can change a lot of things for the better in people.”
The owner, who lives in the neighborhood, said she wanted to open a studio after noticing a lack in the area. The studios that were around, she said, weren’t as accessible due to their pricing.
Namastuy will have sliding-scale, donation-based classes and special discounts for students and veterans, Scholz said, as well as sessions of restorative yoga and slow-paced yin yoga.
“My ideal scenario is to create a safe haven for people, where you can come to relax little and forget it all,” she said.
Scholz also plans for the studio to display local artists’ work on the walls and host showcase events.
Namastuy is seeking artists and yoga teachers to apply before the January launch. For more information, email namastuy@gmail.com.
