Bushwick Man Hit By SUV After Shoving Wife Out of Way of Drunk Driver: NYPD

By Gwynne Hogan | November 17, 2016 11:35am

BUSHWICK — A man was hit and injured by a drunk, wrong-way driver, after he shoved his wife out of the way of the oncoming vehicle, according to police.

The 49-year-old man saved his wife, but was hit in the foot by Michal Przybek, 38, who was driving a Ford SUV the wrong way down Knickerbocker Ave. around 2 p.m., police said.

The impact caused him to tumble to the ground and hit his head. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Police cuffed Przybek, of Ridgewood, at the scene, near the intersection of Knickerbocker Avenue and Suydam Street in Bushwick and charged him with driving while intoxicated and going the wrong way on a one-way street, police said.

They found a bottle of Courvoisier Cognac in a brown paper bag, nearly empty in the front seat of the car, according to Tweets from the 83rd Precinct.

No information about Przybek's attorney was immediately available.
