Woman Fatally Struck Pedestrian While Driving Without License, Police Say

MANHATTAN — Police arrested a woman who fatally struck a pedestrian in Washington Heights while driving without a license, according to the NYPD.

Kyara Dejesus, 24, was behind the wheel of a 2007 Mercedes Benz when she struck Abrehet Hagos, 50, at the intersection of West 180th Street and Broadway on Nov. 13, police said.

Hagos suffered injuries to his head and torso and was rushed to Harlem Hospital where he died.

Dejesus, who lives on West 102nd Street, remained on the scene and was arrested.

She was charged with being an aggravated unlicensed operator and unauthorized use of license.
