Man Punched in the Face for Yelling 'Trump' on Essex Street, Police Say

LOWER EAST SIDE – A man who was strolling down Essex Street while shouting the name of the President-elect on Sunday night was trounced by an unknown assailant, who ran up to the victim and slugged him across the face, police said.

The 60-year-old victim was yelling the name "Trump" while walking between Delancey and Rivington Streets around 7:45 p.m. when a man ran up to him and punched him in the face, causing him to bleed, according to authorities.

The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspect, according to a police report.

Police are still investigating the attack, and so far no arrests have been made.
