Fire at Trump Village Estates Leaves One Person Seriously Hurt, FDNY Says

By Kathleen Culliton | November 11, 2016 2:03pm

BROOKLYN — One person was seriously injured in a fire at the Trump Village Estates in Coney Island, the FDNY said.

The fire broke out in a fifth floor apartment at 2915 West Fifth St. around 10:35 a.m. Friday, according to the FDNY.

The victim was taken to Staten Island University Hospital,  the FDNY said.

The 23-story building is part of a complex built by Donald Trump's father Fred in 1964, records show. The complex was privatized in 2007 and is no longer part of the Trump real estate portfolio.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but the Department of Buildings has received three complaints of defective and exposed wiring in the building complex in the past five years, records show.
