Trump Whiffs in Bronx Voting District With His Namesake Golf Course

By Eddie Small | November 10, 2016 3:35pm

THE BRONX — Donald Trump had a hold on Bronx voters — but he whiffed in the voting district that contains his namesake golf course, data shows.

The area of Throgs Neck that includes Trump Links at Ferry Point voted for Hillary Clinton by a margin of about 300 votes, although Trump did find some pockets of support in a borough that has long been known as a Democratic stronghold.

Clinton still carried The Bronx handily, winning a majority of votes in almost every election district, but Trump did well in the eastern parts of the borough, taking a majority of votes in multiple districts along the waterfront in the Throgs Neck and Pelham Bay neighborhoods.

Trump did relatively well in the Morris Park section of The Bronx as well. Although Clinton still beat him in almost all of the neighborhood's voting districts, he took roughly 35 to 45 percent of the vote in several of them.

A similar dynamic played out in Riverdale, where Clinton won a majority in all voting districts, but Trump still held his own with about 20 to 30 percent of the vote.

He performed dismally in South Bronx neighborhoods like Mott Haven, Morrisania and Melrose, routinely taking less than 5 percent of the vote, while Clinton routinely cleared 90 percent.
