BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Police are searching for a woman who tried to snatch a purse near the Bedford-Nostrand train station.

The 38-year-old victim was walking on Lafayette Avenue at the corner of Bedford Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 when a woman approached her, according to officials.

The suspect grabbed her bag and demanded that she give it to her, police said.

Video shows the victim clutching her purse and attempting to free it from the suspect, while another woman seen with the suspect looks on. The victim screamed for help, police said.

The suspect eventually let go, causing the victim to fall to the ground with her bag. No injuries were reported, according to officials.

Police describe the suspect as approximately 20 years old, 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, with short black hair. She was last seen wearing dark clothing and a white Bulls hat.

The other woman seen on video with the suspect was identified as a person of interest, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
