MANHATTAN — A thief stole an SUV in Chelsea and abandoned it in Brooklyn, but not before snatching a Yankees championship ring and a bronze urn from inside, NYPD officials said.

The suspect, who can be seen in surveillance photos released Tuesday morning, stole the 2016 GMC Yukon filled with personal belongings from outside 133 W. 27th St., near Seventh Avenue, police said.

The SUV's 49-year-old owner reported the theft on Nov. 2, police said.

The SUV was found two days later in Canarsie outside 449 E. 89th St., near Avenue D, police said.

But the suspect had swiped the owner's 1977 Yankees championship ring and a bronze urn, police said.

Investigators believe the ring is genuine and commemorates the Yankees six-game victory over the Dodgers, but the owner was not a member of the baseball team, an NYPD spokesman said.

It wasn't immediately clear if the urn was being used, the spokesman said.
