QUEENS — An 11-year-old girl was struck by a van in Forest Hills after she stepped into traffic Tuesday, police said.

The gray van was heading east on Metropolitan Avenue around 3 p.m. when it hit the girl who stepped into traffic outside of a crosswalk near 74th Avenue, according to the NYPD.

The girl, who fell and suffered head trauma, was in shock and was crying after the crash, officials said.

She was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and is not expected to face charges, authorities said.

The van was carrying a group of young women from a local school at the time of the incident, according to the Daily News, which first reported the incident.
