QUEENS — Surveillance video caught a man viciously beating another in an attack that resulted in the victim's death, authorities said.

The video shows the attacker approaching Patrick Gorman, 64, on the corner of Main Street and Queens Boulevard in Briarwood just after midnight on June 26, police said.

The man, who officials said did not seem to know Gorman, suddenly punched the victim in the head with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground.

Gorman, who lived in an apartment building steps away from where the incident took place, is later seen struggling to get up as the man, joined by a woman, calmly walks away.

Gorman, who police said suffered head trauma, was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he died hours later.

According to his obituary, Gorman was “a dedicated fan of the Red Sox, Mets and all things Baseball, Hockey, Basketball & Football.”

“He was a friendly guy, kind of kept to himself, but he was very pleasant,” said Aida Vernon, Gorman's neighbor. "I was very disturbed when I heard about it.”

Police released the footage after the city medical examiner's office deemed Gorman's death a homicide on Oct. 29, officials said.

The medical examiner’s office did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Police described the attacker as being between 30 and 35 years-old with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and sneakers and holding a black bag.

The woman was described as having short hair and glasses. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and sandals.
