YORKVILLE — Local Italian eatery Bar Prima was shuttered by the Health Department on Saturday for mice, contaminated food and for not having a sink for hand washing, officials said.
The restaurant at 331 E. 81st St., between First and Second Avenues, was forced to close on Oct. 29, after it failed a health inspection with a total of 50 violation points.
Transgressions included "raw, cooked or prepared food that was adulterated," and lack of a sink, soap and hand drying device, according to department records.
Inspectors also found evidence of mice or live mice in the restaurant, records show.
Bar Prima had not yet been re-inspected nor allowed to open as of Tuesday afternoon.
"Once these issues have been corrected, Bar Prima may request a re-opening inspection,” a Health Department spokesman said.
The restaurant — which serves pizza, panini, steak and oysters — did not answer phone calls for comment on Tuesday.
