STATEN ISLAND — A bank robber struck twice on Halloween, hitting two banks nearly two hours apart but only convincing one of them to hand over their cash, police said.

The suspect first hit the Santander Bank at 15 Hyatt St. in St. George at 12:50 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money, the NYPD said.

The worker refused and the man walked out without any cash.

He then went into the Northfield Bank at 385 Bay St. in Tompkinsville at 2:20 p.m. and handed the teller a note, police said.

The worker gave the man an unknown amount of cash and he fled the bank.

The suspect was described as between 40 to 45-years-old, 6-foot-3 with a slim build, police said. He was last seen wearing a maroon baseball hat, a white sweater and dark blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
