MANHATTAN — Police arrested a student Tuesday for allegedly stealing Texas Instrument calculators from a classroom at Murry Bergtraum High School.

The principal and dean of the school at 411 Pearl St. noticed there were calculators missing from a classroom, and checked the school's surveillance video, police said. They saw a student, 19, going in and out of the classroom on Oct. 28 at about 2:20 p.m., according to police.

When the principal and dean confronted the student on Tuesday, he confessed to taking the calculators, police said. Police did not have information regarding the type of Texas Instruments calculator that was stolen.

The student has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, according to the NYPD. The student, whose name DNAinfo New York is withholding, has been arrested six times before for possession of marijuana and a weapon, and robbery, according to police.

On Oct. 25, the principal of Early College School for Advertising, which is located inside Murry Bergtraum High School, was attacked after asking a student to take off his headphones, according to police.

The Department of Education referred questions about the incident to the NYPD.
