UPPER EAST SIDE — A thief snatched hundreds of dollars worth of property from a 72-year-old patient at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center while he lay ill in bed in the same room, the NYPD said.

The victim watched as Charles Cardi, 53, rifled through his belongings at about 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 28, and tried to call for help, but Cardi managed to make off with the victim's $600 Samsung Galaxy phone, a $400 Barbour Jacket, his $200 T. Anthony wallet, $64 in cash and debit and credit cards, police said.

Cardi was arrested shortly after and charged with burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property, according to police.

He's being held at Rikers Island on $2,500 cash/$5,000 bond bail, according to court records. His attorney did not immediately respond to request for comment.
