LOWER EAST SIDE — Two roommates in their 50s are being charged with assault following a brawl in their East Broadway apartment, in which one was slashed with a kitchen knife and the other was struck with a chair, according to police and prosecutors.

Roommates Dao Lin, 55, and Chang Wang, 59, became embroiled in a verbal altercation that turned violent on Oct. 24 at around midnight inside their apartment between Pike and Rutgers streets, police said.

During the altercation, Lin allegedly charged at Wang with a chair and struck him with the furniture across his back, causing redness and swelling, according to a police report.

Wang allegedly slashed Lin across the arm with a kitchen knife during the brawl, causing him to bleed, police and prosecutors said.

Both men are being charged with assault in the second degree, according to court records.

Both defendants were released on their own recognizance, court records show. Wang is due back in court on Dec. 19 and Lin is due back on Jan. 4.

Wang and Lin's lawyers did not immediately return requests for comment.
