GRANITEVILLE — A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured after he was hit by a Parks Department truck while crossing Richmond Avenue, police said.

The boy was crossing Richmond Avenue near Monsey Place Thursday when he was struck by the driver of pickup truck owned by the Parks Department heading south on Richmond Avenue at about 9:10 a.m., a spokeswoman for the NYPD said.

He was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition but was conscious and alert, with injuries to his left leg, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck remained on scene and no arrests have been made, according to authorities.

The Parks Department declined to comment.
