BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man was injured in an attempted robbery on Fulton Street after the suspect followed him from a Bed-Stuy train station and accused him of stealing his phone, police said.

The suspect trailed the 56-year-old victim from the Kingston-Throop Avenues subway stop to the front of 1442 Fulton St. near Tompkins Avenue around 5:40 a.m. on Oct. 15, according to officials.

The attacker accused the victim of taking his cellphone, an NYPD spokesman said, then ripped his bag apart and went through the man’s pockets.

He then punched the man and pushed him on top of a fire hydrant, causing a deep cut to his face.

The suspect fled empty-handed, and the victim was taken to Kings County Hospital.

A phone was recovered at the scene, police said, but was not on the victim.

Police said the missing-phone accusation was a story made up in an attempt to rob the victim, according to reports.

Officials described the attacker as a man between 20 to 25 years old, standing about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, and weighing 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, black jacket, black jeans, black sneakers and a black baseball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit their tips online.
