QUEENS — A new restaurant promising authentic Shanghainese cuisine is opening this Friday in Forest Hills after months of preparations

The Bund, at 100-28 Queens Blvd., near the 67th Avenue subway station, hopes to “recreate a modern Shanghai experience" in the heart of Queens, said David Kong, one of three owners.

"We want to attract everyone who likes good food, but we also want to make it affordable for local residents," Kong said.

The menu will include a number of "chef’s specialties," like diced steak with black pepper, jumbo shrimp with wasabi sauce and deep fried whole fish with sweet and sour sauce topped with pine nuts, with prices ranging from $13.95 to $21.95.

But the restaurant will also offer lunch and dinner specials, including dishes such as General Tso's chicken, shredded pork with celery and dry bean curd and shrimp with lobster sauce, which will cost between $6.50 and $7.95.

Kong, whose aunt, Madam Fu, founded three popular restaurants in Shanghai, said The Bund will be a "neighborhood restaurant" serving "new-age dishes."

"We keep our Shanghainese recipes traditional and authentic and that's not easy to find in New York," Kong said.

To make customer experience more authentic, all the elements of the décor as well as cooking equipment, including furniture, paintings depicting Shanghai skyline, and the wok station were also imported from Shanghai, he added.
