CHELSEA — Popular lunch destination Mexicue is opening in a larger space on Eighth Avenue that will feature a tequila and bourbon bar.

The Mexican barbecue joint, which started out as a food truck, plans to open its third outpost at 160 Eighth Ave., at West 18th Street, a document filed with Community Board 4 shows.

Another of the eatery's spots. a quick-service outlet at 345 Seventh Ave., between West 29th and 30th streets, closed at the end of September.

“Mexicue has grown into much more than a take-out operation these past few years and we are excited to continue our expansion into the full-service restaurant industry with the opening of a restaurant in Chelsea,” founder Thomas Kelly said.

The new restaurant, which is slated to open at the beginning of next year, will include the new bar area and an expanded menu, Kelly added.

The eatery serves items like pulled pork tacos, a “jamburrito” with chicken and chorizo Mexican jambalaya, black beans and cotija cheese, and a chopped brisket slider with Mexican barbecue sauce and "house pickled peppers," a menu shows.

It currently has restaurants in Times Square and the Flatiron.
