Man Struck and Killed on Bruckner Expressway, Police Say

SOUTH BRONX — A man was struck and killed by an SUV on the Bruckner Expressway Saturday night, after narrowly avoiding being hit by another vehicle, police said.

The unidentified 48-year-old man was walking up the southbound exit ramp at Hunts Point Avenue before 8:30 p.m. Saturday when an oncoming vehicle stopped short, narrowly avoiding a collision with the man, the NYPD said.

The man then fell over, and was struck by a red Toyota SUV driving around the stopped vehicle, police said.

He was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The man's identity has not been released, pending family notification.

Both drivers remained at the scene, and there have been no arrests, police said. An investigation by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
