BROOKLYN — Two shots were fired into the courtyard of a public school while classes were in session Friday morning, according to police.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at P.S. 288 on West 25th Street and Surf Avenue at 9:15 a.m., the NYPD said.

Two shell casings were found in the courtyard behind the school but no students were injured, no shots were fired into the school, and no school property was damaged, according to police and the Department of Education.

The Shirley Tanyhill School is a public school for students in grades two through five, according to the school website.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
