LOWER EAST SIDE — A man robbed a teenage boy at the entrance to the F line at the Delancey Street subway station on the afternoon of Oct. 18, claiming that he had just been released from jail and needed the cash.

The victim, 16, had his wallet in his hand while standing at the station's turnstile entrance at around 3:25 p.m., when the suspect approached him and said, "I just got out of jail and I need money," according to a police report.

The thief then snatched the wallet out of the teen's hand, police said.

When the victim tried to grab it back, the man said he had a knife and a gun, though he never displayed a weapon, then fled out of the station onto the street, police said.

The wallet contained $20 cash, according to authorities.

The suspect is described as around 18 years old, standing at 5-foot-8, and weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and no arrests have been made.
