MANHATTAN — Police arrested an ex-con for fatally stabbing an 18-year-old homeless man, officials said.

Cheichk Fall, 33, killed Ashton Niles outside 203 W. 145th St., near Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, about 4:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said Thursday.

Niles was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the stabbing.

Fall, who also goes by Sadibon Fall and lives in Sugar Hill, was arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

He had not been arraigned as of Thursday morning, records show.

Fall has been arrested several times dating as far back as 2004, according to an NYPD spokesman who said records for that arrest are sealed.

He was convicted in 2011 for grand larceny and spent three months behind bars, prison records show.

He was arrested again in August for assault, an NYPD spokesman said.
