BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Unwind with a bottle from Bedford-Stuyvesant’s newest wine shop.

Wine-O, the latest addition to Marcy Avenue, opened its doors on Oct. 14., according to owner Jannette Young.

“Ever since I’ve been here there’ve been a lot of missing services in the area,” said Young, who has lived around the corner from the 602 Marcy Ave. store for more than a decade.

“I love to drink wine, I didn’t want to go too far and thought of it as one of the possibilities of doing something here.”

The 400-square-foot space near Willoughby Avenue offers a variety of wines, including selections that are organic and biodynamic, meaning the grapes are grown without synthetic chemicals and farmed using a particular process.

There’s something for everyone, Young said of the choices, adding that the varieties are “very inclusive” and mostly priced under $20.

Instead of organizing the drinks by region, bottles are categorized by type and description.

There are rosés, “Herby," "Earthy" and "Sexy” wines, fortified bottles and “Big, Bold and Lush” choices, among others.

“We try to be intelligent in our selections,” Young said. “We just want people to be comfortable when they come in and they can find something that they like.”

In the future, the owner looks to have food pairings and tastings at Wine-O.

The store is open Monday through Saturday from noon through 10 p.m. and Sundays from noon through 9 p.m.

Wine-O joins another new wine shop in the neighborhood, Atlas Wine Merchants, which opened its doors on Sept. 1 at 1069 Bedford Ave. near Lexington Avenue.
