BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Little truck lovers will get a chance to get behind the wheel of some heavy-duty vehicles this weekend.

Bedford-Stuyvesant’s P.S. 309 hosts its Fall Fest fundraiser and Touch-A-Truck event on Oct. 22, inviting kids to climb aboard some of the vehicles they see every day around the neighborhood.

Police and fire trucks, a Department of Transportation road repair wagon, a garbage truck and the Brooklyn Public Library’s Bookmobile, among others, will be on scene near the Monroe Street school.

Staffers at the elementary school and pre-K parents helped organize the event, according to parent volunteer Robin Lester Kenton.

“Since there is nothing quite like this in or near Bed-Stuy, we think it will be an amazing family event, a way for kids to interact with their favorite trucks,” she said.

“Additionally, it’s a great way to bring the school community together.”

The $5 admission includes the Touch-A-Truck experience along with arts and crafts and a bounce house.

Other activities at Fall Fest include face painting, a pumpkin sale and a raffle with prizes like Citi Bike annual memberships, tote bags and tickets to the New Victory Theater, Lester Kenton said.

Proceeds will go towards enrichment and professional development at P.S. 309, according to organizers.

P.S. 309’s Fall Fest and Touch-a-Truck celebration takes place on Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 794 Monroe St., near Ralph Avenue. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page here.
