QUEENS — A new co-working space opened recently in the heart of Forest Hills, offering local professionals a place to work outside of their apartments.

Before launching last Wednesday, The Austin Space, at 108-14 72nd Ave., between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard, underwent an extensive makeover, the owners said.

The 2,000-square-foot facility now offers high-speed internet, a conference room, whiteboards, printer and a kitchen with complimentary water, coffee and tea. There is also a lounge area and outdoor patio, according to Benny Tan, a 24-year-old software engineer at SquareVibe from Bayside who co-founded the space with his girlfriend, Tiffany Choi, 24, a Forest Hills bank analyst.

The space also organizes monthly meetups with experts from various industries and workshops, such as an iPhone app development class, Tan said.

Those interested can choose from three membership options, ranging from $25 to $275 a month. The owners also offer weekend tours of the space. For more information go here.
